Samud, Kolipakkam,
In Delhi, the government runs a scheme called " Bhagidari" in which the public are invited to plan and participate in the managment of several government schemes and that is a huge success. It is not neccesary that every body has to turn up for a meeting. There are many Citizens' Groups and NGOs that take up these issues, opinions are expressed on line, through the media and in many other ways. It may be true that no group will represent every one in society but the base of people consulted definitely becomes broader.

read the article on the didi -
might enjoy it :
"This village has two reasons for there being so many girls being born here. Some of the people are too poor to trek to doctors for scans and abortions that lead to sex ratio being skewed in favor of boys and the others belong to the Bishnoi sect that considers all life sacred and therefore protect it."
The Bishnoi factor is commendable but the fact that girls survive because the families are too poor to go to a doctor for scans is ironic though !
I guess these guys on the list post more frequently or sme thing..... Any way I didnt know that such a list existed ..... after coming to know of it, I went and found my name on it ... LOL !
Surethe institution has its reasons : The full story in the Indian Express has been hyper linked for those who wish to read it - but I do not find the reasoning consistent with the Christian ethos that the school profsses
